Gary Ballance column: There is no reason why Adil Rashid can’t force his way back into England’s plans.
We have always known how talented he is and how well he can play, but he is showing it out on the field consistently now.
He is getting big hundreds and putting us into match-winning positions. He is batting really well and bowling well, although he didn't get a chance to show that side of his game at Warwickshire because the seamers took all the wickets.
He is just one of those natural stroke players who is good on the eye, and everyone loves to watch him play.
He is talented, still young, he is a leg-spinner who can turn the ball, and he is a very good batter. If he keeps putting in performances, he will not be too far away.
I said after our wins against Durham and Derbyshire that they ranked as two of the best I have been involved in during my career. The win against Warwickshire at Edgbaston last week is up there too.
To go to Edgbaston, the home of the champions, and win inside three days was a great effort.
With us second in Division One after five matches, it is inevitable that others will talk up our title credentials. And with three wins under our belts and us playing such good cricket, hopefully teams are looking at us and will be worried.
But we don't want to look too far ahead because it is a long season. We just want to prepare for Somerset next week and take it from there.
Getting our first win so quickly after a shaky start helped us relax into the season and I think that has been shown with the cricket we have played since then.
It will be nice to have a bit of rest this week because we have all played quite a lot of cricket during the early part of the season. Our next Championship match at Taunton may be just over a week away but we will not lose any of the confidence we have.
Somerset are a good side but we nearly beat them at Headingley the week before last. They will have that in the back of their minds. If we play the kind of cricket we played against them and against Warwickshire, we will have a very good chance of getting another win.
