Brighouse have not had much to cheer in recent times so their four-run win at Undercliffe in Division Two of the JCT600 Bradford League – their first of the season – must have tasted particularly sweet.

They applied themselves well with the bat to build a total of 205-9, with skipper Umar Salim (67) again leading the way. He was well supported by Muhammad Khurshid (44) as young Amir Hussain (5-48) again impressed with the ball.

Undercliffe were always in the hunt while skipper Ben Heritage (80) and Ahmad Raja (67) were at the wicket but once they were removed, Sohail Hussain (6-45) and Mohammed Hafeez (3-52) went to work and ended the reply for 201 with ten balls to spare.

There are now joint-leaders with Farsley and New Farnley locked on 69 points after both recorded their fourth win of the campaign.

Ian Philliskirk was unfortunate to be dismissed on 99 as he and former Yorkshire opener Ashley Metcalfe (59) led Farsley in their successful pursuit of Hartshead Moor’s 221-9 as the men from Red Lane secured a three-wicket win.

Moor had built their total around the solid efforts of Craig Field (60), Will Smith (44) and skipper Graham Hilton (33). Joe Greaves (3-13) and Philliskirk (3-46) were the pick of the Farsley bowlers.

There is no stopping new boys New Farnley, with fast bowler Nadeem Hussain taking 6-27 as they rolled over Bowling Old Lane for just 84 in reply to a total of 248. Overseas player Devraj Patel was the one Old Lane batsman to make an impression as he hit a defiant 53.

New Farnley’s total was built around an innings of 83 from Tom Suggitt plus valuable knocks from Nick Walker (48) and Lee Goddard (34). Amjid Tariq took 4-50 for Old Lane.

Spen Victoria showed no mercy to bottom team Great Horton as they romped to a 177-run win. Skipper Dan Shuffe (67), the in-form Tosh Baker (55) and Ben Platt (46no) helped their side to a score of 237-5, before opening bowlers Joel Pollard (6-17) and Rob Burton (4-32) dismissed Great Horton for just 60.

Australian Shaun Miller struck an unbeaten 73 as Yeadon logged a comfortable seven-wicket win at Keighley. He was well supported by Damon Gormley (34) as Yeadon passed Keighley’s disappointing 175 with 12 overs to spare.

The league’s all-time leading scorer Richard Robinson (75) and Matthew Bottomley (46) provided the bulk of Keighley’s runs, while Oliver Halliday (4-56) was the most successful Yeadon bowler.

The day’s only century in the division came from Windhill’s Jack Holland, whose 103 helped his side to a 106-run win over neighbours Idle.

Overseas player Fakhar Hussain (68) and Abid Awan (48no) added to the misery for the Idle bowlers in a total of 287-6.

Idle were bowled out for 181 in reply, with Simon Curry (39) their top scorer as Shoaib Iqbal (6-37) secured victory for Windhill.

An unbeaten 65 from John Barton enabled Bankfoot to secure a five-wicket victory at Gomersal.

Barton’s innings contained four sixes and built on the good work of Aaqib Uppal (59) as Gomersal’s total of 189-5 was passed with 27 balls to spare.
