Jack Hawksworth maintained his early-season momentum in the Firestone Indy Lights Championship with a strong performance to finish runner-up in the Legacy Indy Lights 100 at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama.

The 22-year-old Cullingworth racer had triumphed around the 2.38-mile road course last year en route to winning the title in the fiercely-contested Star Mazda Championship during his maiden campaign of American competition.

This time he took the chequered flag a whisker over five seconds adrift of experienced second-year Indy Lights campaigner pole-sitter Carlos Munoz, although it was enough to retain his 12-point advantage in the overall standings.
