Young actors spend night in 'haunted' Monmouth theatre

ASPIRING Monmouth-based actors spent the night in ghostly surroundings as a fundraiser for their latest production.

Savoy Youth Theatre collected money for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is touring outdoor venues this summer.

They spent the night in the Savoy Theatre on Saturday, which is apparently haunted by a ghost called Fred.

The production is a new venture for the senior group of the acclaimed youth theatre, best known for its musical extravaganzas involving eight- 18-year-olds.

The seniors’ tour of outdoor venues starts on July 16, stopping at places like the Nelson Garden, Caldicot Castle and Clydach Gorge, Abergavenny.

Juniors will be performing The Pied Piper of Hamelin in Monmouth the same month.
