Baildon Church of England Primary School are celebrating after coming second in the West Yorkshire Sportshall Athletics Championships at Halifax’s North Bridge Leisure Centre.

They scored 354 points to finish behind Lindley Junior School (Kirklees), who had 426, but ahead of Chapel Allerton Primary School (Leeds), who totalled 328.

Baildon won six girls’ events – the obstacle, 1+1 and 2+2 lap relays, the chest push, speed bounce and standing triple jump, while the boys were first in the obstacle and over and under relays and the standing long jump.

The school’s stand-out performer, however, was Year Six pupil Lois Logan, who will be representing West Yorkshire under-13s in the National Sportshall Athletics finals in Birmingham over Easter.

She won the standing triple jump (6.12m), chest push (7m) and the 2+2 lap relay, while Year Five girls Hollie Ellis and Olivia Silverman won all their track and field events.
