Keighley Cougars player-coach Paul March has been given a two-match ban for using foul and abusive language towards a match official.

The former Huddersfield and Wakefield player was cited after his side’s Kingstone Press Championship defeat by Featherstone Rovers earlier this month.

Former Hull and Great Britain prop Jamie Thackray was also suspended for two matches after being found guilty of using aggressive body language towards a match official during Workington’s game against York City Knights.

Both players were also fined £50 by the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary committee.

The action comes just a week after Widnes’ England forward Gareth Hock was given a one-match ban for abusing a match official in a Super League match against Bradford Bulls.
