Farsley are not clinical as winless run continues

Farsley AFC 1, New Mills 2

Farsley’s grim run of results in Evo-Stik Division One North continued with an unfortunate home defeat to promotion-chasing New Mills yesterday.

The home side dominated for long spells and created the greater percentage of chances but still ended up empty-handed.

The defeat stretched Farsley’s winless run to six games - the opening Saturday of February was the last time they banked three points.

It was the home side that broke the deadlock, however, and it was overdue when Adam Priestley latched onto Gareth Grant’s through ball midway through the first half to finally score the opener.

It was a short-lived lead, however, as Daniel Douglas-Pringle equalised for the visitors just six minutes later.

Douglas-Pringle wrapped up New Mill’s win with his second 13 minutes from time.

Farsley remain 12th, while New Mills moved up one place to seventh and are now just two points outside the play-off zone with as many as five games in hand on some of their promotion rivals.

Farsley’s next league match is the reverse fixture at the Derbyshire club’s Church Lane ground.
