Allan Jeffrey ends Baildon unbeaten run

Allan Jeffrey produced the Bradford League performance of the week as he inspired Fastbats D to inflict a first defeat of the season on Division Four leaders Baildon A.

Baildon were convincing 8-2 winners in the teams’ first meeting back in November, when Jeffrey drew a blank. But he turned the tables in the return contest with a match-winning treble as his team won 6-4.

Mick Holt supplied two singles wins and Jeffrey joined Colin Priestley to clinch overall victory in the doubles as Fastbats maintained their promotion push.

Division Three leaders Fastbats B won their first ten matches but have lost twice since against opposition from Hermits, with their lead at the top cut to just six points following a 6-4 defeat at Hermits D.

Paul McKrieth and Malcolm Fowler won two singles apiece and also took the decisive doubles, while Steve Mills added a single.

Unity D and Fastbats A are involved in an exciting duel for the Division Two title and drew their head-to-head clash 5-5.

The pair have won the same number of matches and boast an identical sets average but Unity hold a narrow one-point lead having lost one match less.

Unity put themselves in the driving seat to lead 5-3 but Craig Knowles completed his treble and then teamed up with Tony Hutton to nick the doubles 12-10 in the deciding game as Fastbats drew level.

At the bottom of the table, Embassy B are fighting hard to avoid relegation and Neil Foley produced an inspired individual performance against Pudsey A.

Foley overcame Linda Sanderson, Steve Winnard and Doug Bartle but the home trio all won twice each for a 7-3 victory and Embassy remain in the bottom two.
