Bradford Dudley Hill put up good fight against leaders

Bradford Dudley Hill were narrowly beaten 14-12 by new leaders Wigan St Judes in Division One of the National Conference League.

A somewhat depleted Hill side made the tough trip over the Pennines but were buoyed by a great start that saw Nathan Kitson dart over from dummy half to score a converted try.

Half-back Ryan Dickinson was well to the fore, marshalling the Hill troops as they continually put St Jude’s under pressure. However, a couple of minutes before half-time Hill were hit with a sucker punch when the home side levelled.

St Jude’s raced in to a 14-6 second-half lead but Hill pegged them back when Lewis Evans fed the outstanding Kenny Smith, who touched down out wide.

It was to prove too little too late but the spirit of the Hill outfit will have given coach Kelvin Lockett something positive to focus on.
