James Meredith features as City reserves win again

Bradford City Reserves 3, Chesterfield Reserves 1

City's reserves recorded back-to-back victories for the first time this season with a home win over Chesterfield in the Central League this afternoon.

With the game being played in snowy conditions at the Coral Windows Stadium, goals from apprentice trio Louie Swain, Connor Erangey and Nathan Curtis were enough to hand the reserves a 3-1 victory over a Chesterfield side featuring first-team squad members Danny Whitaker and Mark Randall.

The win is City's second on the trot in the Central League after last week's 4-0 success at Grimsby Town.

On top of the victory, another pleasing aspect to come out of City's second-string encounter with Spireites was the return of James Meredith.

The popular left back used today's match as an opportunity to make his comeback from a bout of glandular fever that had previously kept him off the pitch since his half-time substitution at Morecambe on New Year's Day.

The Australian full back played the whole first half before, as originally planned, he was replaced at the interval.

City's next reserve fixture is scheduled for Wednesday at Hartlepool United.

Reading will want somebody with a higher profile. No offence to Parkinson.

The sooner James is match fit the better.

The league record with him in reads won 11; drawn 7; lost 6.

Since his injury it reads won 2; drawn 4; lost 5.

Not all down to him of course but he does make a difference and you realise how good he is when he is not playing!

The game that stands out for me was the performance against Arsenal. He was able to put his foot on the ball and make passes under pressure,
