Young rally ace Sam produces personal best

Sam Bilham Sam Bilham

Sixteen-year-old Bingley Grammar School pupil Sam Bilham equalled his best ever result in the Junior 1000 National Championship opener in Lancashire.

Driving his Nissan Micra, Sam finished fifth.

Cold tyres led to a number of spins. Sam was no exception, spinning on the debris left by another car’s wayward antics on stage two.

Despite driving faultlessly for the remaining ten stages, the spin had cost too much time and the short stages meant fifth was the best he could achieve on the day.

The championship moves to Anglesey in North Wales on Sunday.
