Buttershaw White Star in pole position to hold off West Bowling after stalemate
4:00pm Monday 11th March 2013 in Sport By Trevor Adams
Premier Division title rivals West Bowling and Buttershaw White Star shared the points from a 1-1 Bradford Sunday Alliance League draw.
Top scorer Steve Hollingworth scored a first-half goal for leaders White Star but substitute Phil Brogan came on to equalise for the hosts with eight minutes to go.
Both teams had further chances to win it but neither could take them, leaving White Star still in pole position to retain the championship.
Peel Park paid the penalty for having a man sent off as they subsided to a 5-1 home defeat in Division One against second-placed Stanningley Albion.
Mid-table Park dominated the first half and only the woodwork and some fine goalkeeping stopped them running riot.
Anthony Hanna did finally give them the lead, only for Stanningley to equalise before half-time.
The visitors went 2-1 up just after the restart and Park then had a defender dismissed for a dangerous high tackle.
Stanningley took full advantage against the ten men as goals from Anthony Jarrett (2), Matt Gerraty, Tom Jarman and Liam Sanderson clinched a comfortable victory.
White Eagles were three goals up at Cuedos Rangers but two-goal Will Young inspired a fightback as the match finished 3-3.
Another high-scoring thriller saw Undercliffe and Bradford Phoenix share the points from a 4-4 draw in Division 1A.
Dog & Gun continued with their improved form to win 4-0 against Stocks Lane Rangers, with debutant Jason Barrett among the scorers.
Division 2B leaders Swaine Green completed a league double against second-placed Grass Greener United as they romped to a 7-1 home victory.
A close first half saw the hosts go in 2-1 up, with Craig Wiseman netting the reply.
But Swaine Green then hit top form as Chris Edgley and Elliott Holmes both grabbed hat-tricks, backed up by Derry Myers, while Nathan Priestley was man of the match.
