Lee Sinnott takes a raincheck on return to Bradford Park Avenue

The highest profile fixture to fall foul of the weather on Saturday was Bradford Park Avenue at home to Altrincham in Blue Square Bet North.

A waterlogged pitch put a dampener on Lee Sinnott’s return to Horsfall Stadium.

The former Bantams and Terriers defender is manager of the Cheshire outfit now and would have been back on his old stomping ground.

When he managed Avenue his assistant was current Bradford boss John Deacey.

The game was the first of the fixtures featuring local sides to be called off as the club made the announcement before 10am.

Avenue would have been wary of another expensive late decision following the postponement of the match against Colywn Bay by the match referee on February 16 – resulting in Deacey’s side being hit with a large bill to compensate Frank Sinclair’s side for their travelling expenses.

In the Baris Northern Counties East Premier Division, both Thackley and Liversedge were denied home games.

The Dennyboys should have been at home to Parkgate while Sedge were due a visit from Nostell MW.

Eccleshill’s game at nearby Pontefract Collieries in Division One was also washed out.

Should the Avenue get to the Football Conference/League, surely they will need a better playing surface than what is currently on hand at Horssfall. Odsal stadium perhaps ??
