Bradford City launch discounted flexi-card

City will launch a half-price £25 flexi-card on Monday for the remaining home games.

Fans who produce a stub from either the recent Dagenham fixture or tomorrow's game against Aldershot will also get a further 50 per cent reduction on the value of that ticket. If they have both, they will receive two reductions.

So if a fan presents a stub from an adult ticket worth £20, they will get a tenner off. If they produce adult tickets from both games, £20 will be knocked off the flexi-card price - leaving them only a fiver to pay.

Flexi-card holders are entitled to a reserved seat and 50 per cent off the price of match-day tickets.

The Bantams are hoping to attract extra numbers to Valley Parade during the
season run-in as they bid to make a late promotion push.

And should City make the play-offs and find themselves back at Wembley, purchasing a flexi-card would give fans priority - like season-ticket holders - on securing tickets.

Excellent promotion. I hope that the flexicard membership scheme extends into next season, despite being a season ticket holder. A friend who can only get to a few matches has one and sits next to us, when they are up.

I heard that the flexi-card system had been abused this season, and wouldn't be available in the same format next season. A real shame as a halfway house needs to be found for our semi regular home fans. #CTID

I hope the flexi is reintroduced also. I work away and can only attend a third of the games every season so for me its value for money. Maybe by introducing photo card the abuse can be reduced.

I don't know how it was 'abused'. I'll be gutted if they don't do them next season though.

People were going to the turnstiles and using their flexi card. They were then passing them backwards to a friend who then used the same flexi card.

Also some were buying a ticket from the ticket office on a Friday, then their mate was using the flexi card on the Saturday

Well from what I understand, people were going to the ticket office using their flexi card to buy a ticket, then on the Saturday they were giving a flexi card to their mates and getting them to use it on the turnstiles.

Also I've seen it myself, people just passing flexi cards back at the turnstiles so

Fair enough. Its still a great idea and should be continued. The club have the 'luxury' of 15,000 empty seats so should be doing all it can to improve attendances. All that needs to be done is have photos on the cards and ban the purchase of tickets with flexi cards (its ludicrous that this was ever permitted)

Well, if the club are going to continue with a Flexicard next season, supporters need to be informed before the end of this month.

A photo ID card.... I remember having one of them as a kid at city... it allowed me to watch city for £3.00 ha ha ha...

But yes, that would certainly solve the problem... just a matter of cost I suppose!

I work opposite shifts to my mate at work so when I cannot attend matches due to work I lend my friend my flexi card who normally will not pay £20 every game he goes to.
It's an extra bum on my seat and money for the club when I cannot make the game.

CTID says...

I didn't have to, because I have my ticket, but I know people who abused the flex-card system.

Whilst it would have been nice if these people were paying £20 rather than £10, or had paid their £25 at the beginning of the season, the people who were getting in for £10 simply wouldn't have been there otherwise meaning the club were gaining £10 every time it happened, not losing £10.

It would be nice to live in an ideal world but we don't and I think we should look at this pragmatically and make the same offer again next season (so long as it has worked for us financially, that is)

Plus they didn't get to go to Wembley so they'll maybe think twice next time!

That's not really the problem.. To me that is fine as like you say it's a tenner to the club. It's when you see 3 people going and using the same flexi card to get through...

Maybe a scanning machine could be brought in to scan the bar codes

Or make it so you have to buy a ticket to get your discount, that way the computer could log if the flexi card had already been used.

First of all you have to question the people bradford city have on the turnstile for allowing the card to be passed back and forth. I also heard this was happening with season ticket cards also, so it is not only a flexicard issue. Its not rocket science to come up with a scheme to combat this problem. The club could scan the cards as mentioned earlier, or make flexi holders buy a ticket before the game and log all sales on a computer so the card will be refused should somebody try to use it again. the grey area is in allowing people to pay on the day at the turnstile.

I didn't know any of this was happening! Quite the eye opener.

Just a quick one, in regards to the slackness at the City Ticket office... I am 28, I pay for a season ticket monthly by direct debit, so tickets get posted to me each month. From month 1 this season they have sent me Junior tickets only. Easy mistake to make because I get a junior ticket for my daughter, but this is free due to her age, and comes as a card, so no need for separate tickets, after telling the ticket office on 6 separate occasions that I need adult tickets sending, nothing has been done, but I have now given up, as I have not ONCE been challenged at the gate for using a junior ticket.

But it's interesting that we have people on the turnstiles, mainly young lads and lasses, who don't challenge people when their tickets appear to be incorrect prices for who is handing them over, and also, that no Stewards, who stand on the turnstiles every game, check tickets before you enter. Also, as mentioned above, people sharing Flexi-Cards at the same game and no-one noticed. I would suggest something has to change, the I like the idea of a flexi card and that should stay, just maybe the way a ticket is purchased with that has to be looked at

Haven’t made a comment on here for a few months.

Buying a ticket to watch your team contributes to running the club and for player's and future development.

Buying a season ticket allows the club to have money up front to establish how much it can budget for players.

You could question why some people choose to short change the club of moneys due while watching live sport.

That is down to the individual, but if you want success for the club pay what is due. It’s called supporting your club.

Recently, at York the stewards checked you had the right ticket to enter the turnstiles. Now there’s a thought of how to prevent the swapping and changing of flexicards – season tickets.

I hope thereis Flexi-Cards next Season. My Son and I can only attend a few Matches per. Season.
*
But I did wonder--if you purchase a Flexi at the start--for £50.00.

It could be used for every Home Match.
Some 23 Matches. At the reduced rates.
Would this total be less than a full Season Ticket ?.

No freddy- total cost of every game plus flexi card is £280. I think the season ticket was £200?

Flexi card pays for itself after 5 games.

Brilliant for me as I can't make every game. But mainly been to away games when I've not been working weekends so still spent a few quid! Hope they keep this going, as i won't buy a season ticket due to being unable to go to all games.

And paying £20 a game is too steep for my liking!

The staff on the turnstiles have no interest, and are not paid enough, to challenge aggressive drunk idiots and rightly so.

If they combat passing cards back at the turnstile it would be easy enough to find an unmanned fire exit within the stand to pass it through.

I live away so pay on the gate when i get to games, and agree that if these people cant get in for a tenner, they probably will not pay twenty.

We just seem to run everything on a shoestring. I appreciate we need to be frugle however there is a limit. taking from 5am till 1pm to sell a few thousand general sale wembley tickets was nothing short of a complete farce. And even when i got there, my disabled access seats were general access, so the four of us ended up sitting seperately and in cheaper value seats than those bought, and thats after the wembley stewards spent an hour relocating us.

Another example was the Daggers game last week. Lawn was asking for all and sundry to turn up and recreate the wembley atmosphere. Lo and behold, the ques outside the groung prematch were massive so i and many many others missed the first ten minutes. And no i didnt turn up late! There was only ONE cash turnstile open! And there was only 10k turned up apparantly!

Ive got an annual unlimited access cinema Cineworld card, cheap as chips, it has a name, photo, magnetic strip and a barcode for making all purchases. Simple.

Why not scrap the flexicards and halve ticket prices.

£20 for 4th division football is ridiculous.
