Angling lines

BRADFORD & DISTRICT SEA AC

We would urge all members to try to attend our presentation evening on Tuesday, March 19 at the New Inn, East Bierley, starting at 8pm. Trophies will be presented to last year’s winners and there will be a free buffet afterwards. The 2013 trip calendar has now been finalised and a copy will be distributed at the general meeting. Members are reminded that subs are now due. We have held the price at £10 again this year. Anyone interested in joining should come along to the next meeting, where you will be made most welcome. Anyone interested in some in-shore fishing at Whitby or the Mersey in the coming months should call Dave on 07711-987833 so he can plan a trip.

LISTERHILLS AA

There will be a working party at Pilley’s on Saturday and Sunday. All help from volunteers would be welcome, as it is your water we are improving. To clarify the situation on night permits, they can also be obtained from the watcher but must be collected before fishing. The match at Pilley’s was won by W Barker with a pike of 9lb 8oz. He would like to thank the angler who came to his assistance with a large landing net. Second was E Harrison with a much lighter catch. Members are reminded that the last day for coarse fishing on rivers is Thursday, March 14. Work on the canal bridge is now complete and the full length is playable.

BRADFORD No 1 AA

Cowthorpe will be closed on Sunday for an open match. Tickets are available from Simon on 01274-571175. Widdington Hall will also be closed on Saturday for an outside booking. Members are reminded that the club only has fishing rights for below the bridge (right bank) on Milby Cut Canal. The final day of the river season is March 14, so the River Calder in Brighouse and River Swale are worth a visit prior to this for chub and grayling. Raskelf lake is fishing well for chub, ide and F1s.

CLAYTON AC

The first match of the season is on Sunday, March 17 at Barnburgh lakes, Barnsley. Any member wishing to book on, who hasn’t already done so, should call Jason on 07787-148642 before Monday. All matches will be £18 this season. The draw for the Barnburgh match is at 9am at the venue, with fishing from 10am to 3pm. All members are reminded to adhere themselves to fishery rules.

BINGLEY AC

Some new planting has been carried out around Coppice pond. Members are requested to take care not to damage plants when fishing. The canal is fishing well for nets of small roach and skimmers, especially at Morton Lane. The closed season for rivers starts next Thursday.

HEWENDEN AC

The next coarse match will be on Sunday, with a 9am draw in the car park. It costs £10 all in on the morning. The annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 26 at the Fleece pub in Cullingworth from 8pm. All members are encouraged to attend.
