Leeds United are quite happy to be mounting a late spurt to get into the play-off places.

They have taken seven points out of a possible nine ahead of tomorrow night’s npower Championship match at fifth-placed Leicester City, and skipper Lee Peltier is still confident that they can get into the play-offs.

United go into the game on the back of a 1-0 home win over Millwall, and Peltier said: “I thought it was a very good performance. It (the score) could have been three or four.

“We had a few good chances in the first half and we carried on in the second half.

“It was a massive three points but every game is massive for us now.”

The victory meant that Leeds stayed in touch with the play-off spots, and Peltier admitted; “I’d rather be going into the play-off places coming in from the outside instead of being under pressure in there.

“Every year you see a late charge from somebody, and hopefully that will be us this season.”

United have now kept three clean sheets on the bounce – against Blackpool, Blackburn and Millwall – and Peltier feels the mix of youth and experience at the back is paying off.

Peltier is covering the central positions with Tom Lees, while Sam Byram and Stephen Warnock are the full backs.

“All the back lads have done well,” said Peltier. “It is a good mix and I am happy to be a part of it.”

Confidence is high at United, and manager Neil Warnock said: "We now have Leicester City and Crystal Palace away.

"They don't lose many at home and our away record is abysmal so it was important to get three points on Saturday to keep us in touch.

"We've now had three clean sheets in a row and are improving every game. We've had three games now and three good results."
