A midweek defeat leaves Silsden desperately looking for points from their trip to Premier Division basement outfit Stone Dominoes in the North West Counties League on Saturday.

The Potteries outfit are eight points adrift at the foot of the table but while the Cobbydalers are 16th they have averaged just one point per game and three of the six clubs below them have games in hand.

Silsden spokesman Jim Rosser said: “Our 2-0 defeat at Barlick (neighbours Barnoldswick Town) on Tuesday makes this a big, big game for Silsden.

“We have got to get three points from it. It’s as simple as that really.

“The performance wasn’t bad in midweek and we defended very well. We also competed in midfield and created chances.

“Andy (Geary, interim manager) has brought a few older heads in and that has helped. Having Kev Ryan fit has also made a massive difference to us and James Gill coming back in has settled the side.

“Even Matthew Bland came on as a substitute at Barlick and he did well. Experience certainly counts.”
