CITY 1 DAGENHAM 1
James Hanson came off the bench to scramble a late equaliser and save City from a fourth home defeat on the bounce.
It was a frustrating night against a team who have still never lost at Valley Parade.
Dagenham's jinx looked set to continue even after Sam Williams missed a 49th-minute penalty.
Luke Howell then fired the Daggers in front before Hanson finished from close range after a cross by Zavon Hines.
City almost then won it but Nahki Wells, another sub as Phil Parkinson made six changes, saw his shot blocked on the line by Abu Ogogo.
9:34pm
Wells shot cleared off the line by Ogogo.
9:33pm
Dagenham scrambling for their lives as City press for a second.
9:31pm
Alamo time in the Dagenham box. City think they can win this now
9:29pm
HANSON 1-1. Hines low cross touched on by Wells and Hanson finishes at far post.
9:25pm
Connell tries ambitious chip but goes over bar. Dagenham replace Strevens with Bingham, nine minutes left.
9:21pm
And he's replacing Darby.
9:20pm
Connell ready to come on.
9:18pm
There's a shot from Reid but Lewington safely watches it fly wide.
9:17pm
City need to respond but no evidence so far. That goal has really knocked the stuffing out of them.
9:13pm
1-0 to Dagenham. Strevens cuts into box, ball breaks for HOWELL who shoots into bottom corner.
9:10pm
Double sub as Hanson and Wells come on for Gray and Thompson midway through the half.
9:09pm
Davies almost converts as City build up the pressure with a third corner.
9:08pm
Hines wins a corner and McArdle again goes close with shot deflected just over angle of bar and post.
9:05pm
Williams tries to make up for botched penalty with curler wide of far post.
9:03pm
Crowd is 10,006 with 58 from Dagenham. Not the big crowd that City had been hoping for on the back of Wembley.
9:01pm
Gray does some juggling back to goal and his shot on the turn just beats the post.
9:00pm
Whole crowd now stand in honour of the 56.
8:59pm
We've got our chance now, they missed lets get a win #bcafc

8:59pm
Kop launch "Always Remember" chant as the game hits the 56th minute.
8:57pm
Nelson's header from Jones free-kick clawed away by Lewington under pressure.
8:54pm
Hines flattened by Ilesanmi, who gets rightly booked. Foul happens right in front of City dug-out and Parky quick to vent his anger.
8:52pm
Williams steps up to take - and MISSES. Wide right, terrible penalty!
8:51pm
Penalty for Dagenham as Reid runs into back of Wilkinson.
8:49pm
We're off again for the second half. No changes yet for either side but City need to make an impact.
8:34pm
First home game I've missed since I was 13 #gutted #BCAFC

8:32pm
Wilkinson just gets a toe in to dispossess Gray as he chases Thompson's header. Then Lewington smothers right on the edge of the box.
Half-time 0-0
8:30pm
Long throw by Darby into danger zone but Dagenham clear their lines again.
8:28pm
Thompson looking a handful and forces a corner. Hint of panic in Daggers' defence as Lewington shouts at his own players.
8:27pm
McArdle has been City's unlikely goal threat so far but he completely misses his header as Jones floats another free-kick into the box.
8:24pm
Darby pushes forward to tee up Jones but the skipper's 30 yarder is off target. But this is better from City.
8:20pm
Jones ball over the top looks to release Thompson but Doe is across in nick of time.
McArdle gets head to corner but flicks across goal.
8:19pm
Nelson flicks on Darby's long free-kick for Gray but his shot on the turn is blocked.
8:18pm
First sound from the away section. Dagenham will be quite happy to get to half an hour at 0-0.
8:18pm
@ParkerTandA yeah we're definitely going up with our best players on the bench!
— @bantamross 27 February 2013
8:15pm
Thompson panics Lewington into slicing his clearance out for throw and sparks another chorus from the crowd.
8:14pm
Dagenham have two men on Reid every time he gets on the ball.
8:11pm
Game being played at a frantic tempo.
8:08pm
Jones tries to burst through but Hines puts too much on the pass.
8:08pm

— @sam1kenny 27 February 2013
8:05pm
First corner for City but Dagenham scramble it clear.
8:05pm
Doyle gets his ninth yellow card of the season for flattening Howell.
8:04pm
Even the subs coming out for a warm-up get applauded
8:02pm
Saunders tries a shot that is so wide it ends up being kept in by Elito on the left wing.
7:57pm
The crowd break out into a flag-waving chorus of Stand up if you love City.
7:55pm
Estimate of Dagenham away following looks about 50. But they are nearly celebrating as Elito receives Saunders pass and whips in fierce shot that McLaughlin tips on to the bar. Good save from the City keeper.
7:53pm
Reid free-kick flicked back into box by Nelson and McArdle's stretching volley flies just over bar into Kop.
7:52pm
Nothing to report so far but the atmosphere is cracking. Fans clearly up for it.
7:46pm
Dagenham give City guard of honour as they walk out. Greeted by Wembley flags and plenty of noise.

6:57pm
City begin life after Wembley with several changes for tonight's home clash against Dagenham.
Jon McLaughlin obviously comes in between the posts for the suspended Matt Duke. It is his first league outing since the end of October.
With Ryan Dickson ruled out for the rest of the season, Phil Parkinson solves the left-back dilemma by moving Stephen Darby across from the right.
Rory McArdle returns to fullback duties on that side with Andrew Davies and Michael Nelson together again in the middle.
Wingers Zavon Hines and Kyel Reid are also back while Andy Gray, who was ineligible for the Capital One Cup, is restored up front alongside Garry Thompson.
Youngster Jack Bentley is the spare goalkeeper on the bench.
CITY: McLaughlin, McArdle, Nelson, Davies, Darby, Hines, Jones, Doyle, Reid, Thompson, Gray. Subs: Ravenhill, Hanson, Wells, McHugh, Atkinson, Connell, Bentley.

Not good enough. Gray can sit on the bench for me as we need goals and he has not got them!
Think our season is just about over but will decide in the next few weeks.
Our home form is just not good enough to late.

Question is without injuries (noticeable how we have struggled without Reid after Rochdale and Davies & Oliver perhaps gave more confidence to midfield, also Meredith sorely missed) would we have challenged?
My view is that the first team was never good enough - outplayed and outwitted in a lot of away games early in the season - remember we were 3-0 down to Dagenham after 49 minutes with our first XI. Now PP seems really unsure and yet he persists with Jones & Doyle who individually might be very good but create and score nothing. So do any of the other wide midfield players. This has been obvious really since October and we have done nothing.
So what of next season and the Wembley legacy. Fortunately PP will not now be poached - he deserves another year because of Wembley but realistically we should be up and away like Gillingham were this season by end of November. If that is not the case - ML & JR will have to take action.
With regard to personnel, we need probably a new keeper - doubt whether Davies will go anywhere and with McArdle/McHugh/Olive
r we have a decent defence. Gary Jones probably a season too far next season and I would try Doyle and Atkinson in middle and get some wide midfielders who can score! Hanson is ok, and we can but hope that Wells goes for £1m (I think his value is reducing by the minute and PP trying to protect that!). Connell and Thompson two experienced guys who maybe never got a long run - but neither likely to bring us promotion next term. I would also question 4-4-2 in this league we are always outmuscled by 4-5-1 teams and maybe it is just naive to think two wingers, a big old fashioned centre forward and a poacher will bring success.
Adios then to Gary Jones, Hines, Reid, Thompson, Connell, Wells and of course Duke and Ravenhill.
Thank you to all the lads who made last Sunday a reality but just as they say in politics - a week is a long time - in football you are as good as your last result - sadly Capital One aside - we have been the same or worse than last season in the last dozen games.
It will be interesting to see how PP copes. I really do wish him well.
Shawn from Richmond could have been right all along.

So Sorry to have to say this But we are not good enough to go up.We need to re think The Midfield does not have enough Drive. The forwards do not seem able to score the goals required So much hope this year but things do not seem to be going as well as early season. Can things improve the Facts say No.if only somehow we can get out of this division But i fear it is not now going to happen.OH CITY.

D&R were another anti-football team, who looked distinctly like a lower-mid table League 2 side.
Unfortunately, we don't look much better.

I thought Thompson had a decent game, but in a match we realistically had to win, your 1st choice pairing should've been on a lot early for me.
I thought Reid had an absolute shocker. I think it's lack of confidence, but instead of his 1st touch being on the move and forward so he can attack the full back, it is either sideways or stationery, which allows teams to double up on him. It's almost like he wants two men on him, as it gives him the excuse not to take his man on and pass back to his full back.
I can never understand why Taylor, Jacko, and now Parkinson have never signed someone who can compete with Hanson, because when we play with a big man up front we look a far more dangerous side.
There is also a lack of goalscoring threat from midfield. Start with Jones and Doyle by all means, but when you are struggling in a game, you need that attacking threat to bring off the bench, and we just don't have that.
At the final whistle it seemed the dawn reality that it is most probably yet another season in this sh*tty division.
To change that only wins will do and we need to take more risks to achieve this. If it means losing by trying to win games then so be it.

Tinkerman tinkers again and plays his old love child Gray who is as useful s an FA..... RT in a trance. Our only real goal scorer sits on the bench for nearly all the game and, minute for minute on the bench, his value decreases.
MAYBE LAWN WAS RIGHT NOT TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS WITH PARKYas the way we are going at present is downward rapidly.
Simply not good enough play wih midfield not contributing, wingers playing with no real skill and two forwards who have scored very few this season and for many seasons past!!
AT THE TRANSFER DEADLINE WE SPENT £30k on a defender ( did we actually need another centre half?) and brought in a free transfer who never really scored goals for fun in his younger days and is less likely to do so now. TOO OLD,TOO SLOW AND A WASTE OF TIME
Start praying for points guys because we need them badly to stay in mid table anonymity AGAIN. So much for progress!!

I have been told that Jagger Jewell has been attending the City home games since xmas, and has been sitting with Chairman lawn. he was at the game last night too. With Jagger still unemployed, and Parky dwelling on his new contract offer, could there be something happening in the background? I also understand from a few people that Parky is asking for more money. If Parky decides to move on, will jagger step in and take over? He still lives local. ( Burley-in-Warfedale)
