Thackley continued their defence of the Baris Northern Counties East League Cup with a 2-0 victory at Dennyfield last night.
Barton Town Old Boys were their third-round opponents and the Dennyboys edged into the quarter-finals at the expense of the Hull-based club – the first time they have beaten Barton this season, as both Premier Division clashes ended in 2-2 draws.
Chris Davey put Thackley in front on the half-hour mark but the tie was never safe until Jordan Missin netted eight minutes from time.
Top-tier rivals Liversedge earned a point from a 1-1 home draw against basement outfit Hall Road Rangers in the league.
The visitors took the lead when Jon Slater converted a 19th-minute penalty but Sedge snatched a point thanks to a Richard Watson own goal five minutes from time.
Eccleshill United also banked a point on the night following a goalless draw at Grimsby Borough in Division One.
Unlike the Eagles, Silsden did not manage a point on the road as they suffered a 2-0 defeat in their North West Counties Premier Division derby at Barnoldswick Town.
The home side went in front thanks to a fantastic volley from Sean Airey and Mark Threlfall added their second before half-time.
Tonight sees Eccleshill’s divisional rivals Albion Sports back in action. The title-chasers have not played for a week and half but they host promotion rivals Pontefract Collieries, before their short trip to face the Eagles at Plumpton Park this Saturday.
