Huddersfield in frightening form, admits Bradford Bulls ace Jamie Foster as he plots Giant-killing

Jamie Foster knows the Bulls face a 'massive test' on Sunday Jamie Foster knows the Bulls face a 'massive test' on Sunday

Jamie Foster believes this Sunday's derby at Huddersfield provides the Bulls with the ideal opportunity to respond to their St Helens thumping.

Francis Cummins’ men were beaten 36-10 at home to St Helens on Saturday and now face a huge test against the table-topping Giants.

Paul Anderson’s men are the only side in Super League with a 100 per cent record after four rounds but Foster is confident the Bulls can find the right response.

It will be the first time that Craig Kopczak has faced the Bulls since quitting the club in controversial fashion last September and there is the added spice of Stuart Fielden lining up for the Giants.

Foster said: “We’ve got to bounce back against Huddersfield because if you put a few losses together then that’s when the confidence starts to drain away.

“Huddersfield have got an awesome pack and to be quite honest they’re not a team I looked into too closely before the season started.

“After watching them in that first game against St Helens, they blew them away.

“It was frightening in a way and you think, are they going to keep this up or are they going to drop off?

“I thought they might run out of steam but all of a sudden they’re rolling Wigan and everyone is taking them very seriously. It’s going to be a massive test but I think it’s something we need.

“We don’t want to be playing a team that we’re expected to beat and then just roll past them. We need to be l Continued on Page 35playing these teams to test ourselves to see where we are.”

Foster admits he found it difficult against his former club at the weekend as Saints coasted to an emphatic victory.

He added: “I found it pretty tricky to be honest, I really did.

“Not too much fazes me in terms of big games and big crowds but playing against blokes who I grew up with as a kid sticks in you and it’s hard to get out of your system, no matter how much you tell yourself that you’ve got to take these players on.”

Based on that game last saturday I don't think this guy's a winger at all. Move him to FB, Kearney to the halves, Donno & Addy switch at 13 and try Chev on the wing, okay he isn't the chev of 10 years ago that played wing but he'll come inside and take it up, he's defensively solid and huddersfield are a big side all over the field.

I hate saying this but I really don't rate our chances in hudds. Their forward pack is currently one of, if not the best in the league at present. They have pace and power in the backs also. I hope I'm wrong but with such a small squad, games like this were always goin to be a tough ask!
I think Langley, manese and donno all need to start this wk to give us some fight in the first 20, things improved when they came on last wk.
Hoping for what to me would be a shock win. COYB

It is OK for fans to be honest about a game. I also fear the result at the weekend. They have a massive pack, two good halves and some very skilful backs. We have to build for the next few years and I think we will pull of some one-off results but over the whole season we will be shown to be a team fighting for 7th-8th position. This is not criticism but how I see it for the moment. Hopefully in a couple of years we can build the squad to compete. For now, I will enjoy what we get and watch the youngsters improve.

Think you're hoping against hope mike.(hope you're right by the way.)
Giants are the best team in the competition at the moment, and judging on what they did to saints, and what saints did to us, it leaves us a long way behind teams like these.
We badly need to add to our squad to compete at top level, but it appears that's out of the question for a while so the lads are just going to have to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in there.
We can.t afford to start bad as last week or it will be a cricket score.
good luck to the boys, lets just hope it's not boys against men.

I agree!!!!, Huddersfield "just" held on against Wakey and Baloo said that was due to them controlling the 6 and 7, so we need the halves spot on from the outset! , as John Kear said "It's all aout 9,7,6"

Lets be positive my boss is a big giants fan and he said they were very poor against wakey

In fact he says wakey should have won the game so lets not be to disheartened we will have to play better than we did against the saints

But we can yes they have a big pack so i am no coach but Matt Elliot use to used that against teams and play to there weakness i am sure franny will have looked at many vidieos

Agreed. Although I'd be more tempted to put chev in the centres and push Blythe out to the wing. Definitely wasting Foster out on the wing and Addy is off the boil. I'd have Donaldson at 13 and Murphy off the bench instead of Addy.

Jamie is a winger, he just hasn't had decent service yet. We have several options in my humble opinion,
1/ leave BK at F-B Foster on wing, draft in O'Brian with Disko for hookers and switch Heath to scrum half and Jarrod at 6 or
2/ Foster F/B Blyth on wing with Whitehead as centre , BK & JS 6 & 7,

for me Addy is out of his depth at half back and cant control the team, but his kicking game is ok . Leave Chev at L/F he's outstanding , might be risky to give Murphy a run at Hudds but it could make him , who knows ?

No matter what tinkering of positions goes on Addy has to be removed from the halves, he`s slow in thought and action and he missed too many tackles against Saints.
Re Foster on the wing and not getting the service, am I alone in thinking Lulia is not the player we knew last season so far this year.
I also wish Sidlow would run his weight instead of plodding along.
But as already been pointed out it`s a rebuilding season after the mess of last year, so lets keep the faith.

why do people always have a go at individual players especially when they play out of position.we have a small squad with key players missing at the moment so to be 7th in the league is pretty good going.how many of you have actually played or coached this game the response will be interesting.get behind the team thats what true supporters do coyb
