Liam Darville joins Cougars

Former Bulls youngster Liam Darville has signed for the Cougars’ Under-23s side.

The teenager from Wibsey spent the past two years playing in Bradford’s Academy but was released at the end of last season.

The Rugby Football League decided to scrap the Under-18s Academy and Under-20s Valvoline Cup competitions and have replaced them with a new Under-19s.

That has led to Super League clubs being forced to shed a number of younger players and Darville went on to join amateur outfit West Bowling.

But he still harbours dreams of making the grade in the professional ranks and will combine playing for Keighley’s Under-23s with his job as an apprentice electrician.

The imposing stand-off, who stands almost 6ft 3in, is currently sidelined with a dislocated elbow.
