It's good news week at Thackley
There was good news on and off the field for Thackley last weekend with a return to winning ways and players on the comeback trail.
The Dennyboys have been a constant in the top eight of the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division this term but, up until last Saturday, they had won just one game this year.
They drew on the opening Saturday of 2013 at Glasshoughton Welfare, and followed that up with three points at home thanks to a 3-0 win over Lincoln Moorlands Railway but the next maximum took over a month to land.
A heavy defeat at home to leaders Scarborough Athletic proved difficult to get out of their system as five of the next six games were postponed and the other ended in a 3-0 defeat at Worksop Parramore.
They snapped out of that run with the 4-0 home victory over Long Eaton United last Saturday, and Vince Brockie will be hoping his squad can build on that and be boosted by the returnees.
Spokesman Mick Lodge said: “We thought it was a well deserved win against a very youthful Long Eaton side.
"It was Matt Morgan’s first home game since his return from injury and, as well as scoring one of the goals, he made a goal-line clearance to keep us in it.
“An excellent display from Jordan Missin was capped off with a fine goal that was set up for him by Eder Ruiz.
“There were no new injury worries and Nicky Matthews is close to a return. Rob Morgan has started his return with his first training session this week, so things are looking good.”
Club captain Morgan suffered a sickening double fracture of the leg against Staveley MW over 14 months ago and is only just ready to attempt light training following a series of operations and a long rehabilitation period.
