Bitter blow as Bradford Dragons fade away
5:10pm Monday 11th February 2013 in Sport By Sports Desk
Dragons head coach Chris Mellor insists his side will keep fighting to turn things around
Bradford Dragons let slip a 17-point lead early in the final quarter to lose 75-69 at Worthing Thunder in vcars.co.uk Division One.
The Dragons were looking to snap a three-game losing streak and looked on course to do so against a Worthing side struggling at the foot of the table.
But ultimately it was the hosts who finished the strongest to push Bradford down to eighth place. Dragons head coach Chris Mellor said: “We played a great three and half quarters and awful last five minutes. It’s a tough loss to take but we will keep fighting to turn things around.”
Ricky Fetske led the Dragons scoring with 20 points, while the 24 posted by Bud Johnston proved decisive for Worthing.
Next up for Bradford is a home match against fourth-placed Tees Valley Mohawks on Saturday. Tip-off time is 6.15pm at Bradford College on Trinity Road.
Meanwhile, the Dragons second team also suffered disappointment at the weekend as Mold Magic emerged comfortable 72-43 winners.
But the under-14s produced their biggest win of the season as they thumped Leeds Tigers 115-26.
