Latest petanque news

Pam and Alan Wallace made the most of a hectic weekend of action at Heckmondwike Petanque Club.

The couple won Saturday's pairs event at the Firth Park venue and then returned on Sunday as part of the visiting Ashdene Club from Elland to help the visitors to a narrow victory in a challenge match.

The Wallaces won all three of their pairs matches, with a plus-16 points difference to pip Gordon Walsworth and Paul Simpkins to the title by just two points. Roy and Isobel Pearson were a further two points adrift, also from three wins.

On Sunday, the challenge match finished eight wins apiece, but Ashdene shaded victory, thanks to a plus-12 point advantage.

The return match is scheduled for February 24.
