Brighouse Cricket Club need help on and off the pitch
If life is tough at the top of the JCT600 Bradford League, then it is even tougher at the bottom.
Brighouse Cricket Club finished at the basement of both the Second Division first and second-team tables last season, and their president Russell Livesey isn’t exactly saying he is playing a lone hand at Russell Way but it does not seem that that is far from the truth.
He said: “We are at a bit of a low ebb at the moment, and have been for some time.
"It doesn’t give a good impression when we don’t fulfil a fixture or don’t get 11 players out for both teams, so we need volunteers and players to come forward.
“We don’t want to give the impression that no-one is welcome or no-one is wanted, which sometimes can keep people from helping.
" Maybe they could be former players or people who used to work on the committee. Perhaps they could help out with the ground or do some coaching.
“At the moment I am club president, the league representative and the groundsman.”
If anyone can help, they should contact Russell on 01484-710158 or 07910-931989.
