Bradford ice hockey starlet Myles Dacres is looking forward to the biggest test of his young career.

The 17-year-old forward has been selected for Great Britain under-18s ahead of the World Championship and hopes to win a gold medal.

The squad will be traveling to Estonia at the end of March and Dacres, who now plays for Blackburn Hawks after launching his career with the Bradford Bulldogs, is looking forward to the challenge.

“We’re hoping to come out with gold this year with the strongest team we’ve had in a long time,” he said.

“I am very grateful for all the help I have received in obtaining sponsors. The support people have shown to me has made me want to work harder to achieve my dreams.

“They used to say a boy from Bradford would never make it, or that a young black boy would never make it. But here I am and I have so many people to thank for helping me on my way to international success.”

Dacres has played 17 times for the Great Britain under-18s side, scoring 53 goals and adding 26 assists. He will be looking to boost those figures in Estonia.
