Baildon completed the double over local rivals Old Modernians with a powerful eight-try display.

Stand-off and captain-for-the-day Jake Duxbury opened the scoring with a long-range penalty on three minutes.

This was followed by the first of three tries from outside centre Jarrod Huss after flanker Shawn Stewart and inside centre Elliot Morgan had combined well to put the Kiwi in the clear after 16 minutes.

An audacious drop goal by Duxbury nudged his side further in front and a fine try from Stewart in first-half injury time gave the Jenny Laners an 18-0 cushion at the break.

Despite playing up the slope and into a strong wind in the second half, the hosts dominated possession and territory.

Eighteen-year-old scrum half Joe Miller, making his first-team debut following the late withdrawal of captain James Dawson with a stomach upset, directed play superbly. His quick and accurate service enabled Duxbury to release his backs and put on an impressive display of running rugby in the second period.

Right wing Matt Robinson crossed on 44 minutes, after a fine break by full back JJ O’Connell, followed by a pushover try from No 8 Alistair Beaumont.

Huss was rewarded for chasing his own kick with his second try on 60 minutes before 49-year-old Andy Pollard grabbed himself a try after a powerful surge by his forwards left him with the simple task of touching down.

Huss completed his hat-trick with a 60-metre sprint when Mods spilled the ball in Baildon’s 22 and Matt Robinson grabbed his brace to complete the rout on 80 minutes.

The win provides a welcome tonic before the Jenny Laners' vital home promotion clash with Goole next Saturday.
