Bradford City in decent shape despite Kennedy blow (From Bradford Telegraph and Argus)

thanks to Ritchie.....there's a good player in there imo, but he never got a decent run of games to establish himself fully. Only my opnion but i prefer him to ravenhill as back-up, as he's more mobile, pace and creative, but he needed to move on for his own career, as clearly Parkinson felt he didn't suit or shape/style.

Good luck to him though. I can see him doing well somewhere else......

Big shame about Ritchie Jones given a chance i think he would have been a very good player.Said many months ago he would be the David Syers of this season his face and style just didnt fit.Unfortunately imo he has what we are missing in midfield as fantstic as G.Jones and Doyle have done Ritchie had a bit more flair and attacking/goal scoring talent as did Syers pattern emerging?
Dissapointed we couldnt strengthen midfield understand not wanting to be held to ransom as i suspect was the case but hope promotion wise we dont live to regret it for the sake of 40 or 50k.
So far as i am aware Brian Howard ex Portsmouth is still available and as a free agent is still able to sign for a club would love to see him come in but not sure if he fits Mr Parkinsons criteria.
Any hoo big game tomorrow come on lads lets get our league form going again c.t.i.d.

This doesn't really make sense. You say Richie Jones ahead of our star midfielders Gary Jones and Doyle? And it just shows what a bit of money can do. 40 - 50k just throw it around. Leave the finances to someone who can handle money, because you cannot.

So who would you drop to accomodate Richie Jones? Are you saying the player should just stay on the bench?

Wake up peter or get some glasses. It clearly states as back up. Ritche was also here before Jones and Doyle and didn't really get a good run of games then. I repeat I prefer him as back up to Ravenhill. Your always trying to get a rise peter but your not clever enough my friend. Do you drink in the second. west pub By any chance?

Agree more or less word for word mate.

And if we need a defensive midfielder I am sure with the cover we now have at CH a move for Davies into there for certain games (once fit) could allow us to change formation slightly and give two forward thinking midfielders free reign to attack the box.

@Peter...he stated he had to move for his own career and expressed a preference for Jones over Ravenhill and gave reason for that preference, not one suggestion of dropping anyone. Are you saying we only employ 11 men? No back-up?

I'll add my regrets at the departure of Ritchie. As stated above, I also think he's a better backup than Ravenhill.

We lost two central defenders in one game, who are still injured. What happens if a similar calamity happens to our midfield? We'll have paid up his contract so, financially, not a lot will have been gained.

I'd like Scot Brown to be allowed to develop but not sure whether PP rates him.

Good luck to R Jones. I thought he had the talent and the pace to be very good at this level, but unfortunately he didn’t seem to have the desire. IMO spent too much time around the centre circle. for a player with blistering pace - most frustrating

I cannot think anything else other than money was the contributing factor for Kennedy not wanting to join City. I suspect we will hear more about this transfer come the Summer...For now, i believe we have enough to get us into the play-offs at a minimum. Prediction for Saturday. Fleetwood 0 BCFC 0

A very poor window considering we have had big windfalls from the cup. We really needed to make a marquee attacking signing.

If we lose Hanson or Wells, we are in major trouble.
And have now lost our best backup CM.

I think that's going to become a popular put down in Bradford - and rightly so, haha.

Kennedy was a strange option anyway..very much a holding midfielder rather than box to box and we are replete with them already! Jones did show that he could support the front two with decent runs at times. That said we have 30 odd in the first team squad which should be enuf with the option of a loan if needed. Scot BRown is still there in the background and an able deputy.

Yes we have paid off his contract but will obviously not paid it in full or we may have just kept him. On contracts I think that you are obliged to pay the player up to the end of July so I would think we paid him to the end of Mar/April allowing him to earn more from another club and at the same time freeing up some of our budget.

Good luck Ritchie Jones. In his good games he looked excellent but due to injuries, being over-looked (by three different managers at times) etc he just never cemented his place. Hope he gets a deal somewhere else and if he plays at VP in the future I hope he gets a warm reception.

RJones is a very good footballer, but for whatever reason, it just hasn't worked out for him under Parkinson. Last season saw him in and out of the team (as was Syers) and this term, despite appearing 10 times, was mainly played 'out of position'. I hope he goes on to secure a position elsewhere (possibly Accie S) and re-starts his career.

In relation to his release, I can see both sides. He is more creative than our other midfielders (although, Atkinson can do a similar job), but Ravenhill/Brown are more akin to covering for Doyle.

I would have preferred to have seen another target man arrive, to offer competition to Hanson (and to give the big man the occasional rest). It would also have been nice to have a replacement in the squad for RJones, but why would any decent player join us at this stage of the season, knowing he will only get a game when Doyle/GJones get injured or suspended or need a rest?

As for Peter Vile, just ignore him and he will disappear for a while.

Kennedy will continue to be unhappy at Rochdale and will then be available free in the summer. Do we want him then? maybe not if he caused the deal to breakdown with excessive demands

I took your advice on other thread waynus. Ive patented that line and it costs to use it...£1 a go. The club shop should get some car stickers printed with it on and then I'll be rich.

Disappointed to see Ritchie go as I thought he was a good footballer, but not surprised.

It was quite clear from the outset, that Parky wanted to bring in his own players, and unless the existing squad were integral to the team, such as Hanson or Wells, the rest would be slowly marginalised.

Although they are different types of players, I think Ritchie is better than Ravenhill, and when you've got Gary Jones and Doyle who are more than adept at playing the holding role, you don't need to start with another defensive midfielder in Ricky, in the event one of them gets injured.

I think in mitigation Ritchie would've been a pretty high earner.

We now need to bring in another central midfielder and has already been mentioned I think Brian Howard would be a good signing. We would be able to bring him in straight away as he's a free agent, and he's a good footballer with a lovely left foot, although wages could be a potential stumbling block.
