City target Jason Kennedy will not be heading to Valley Parade.

Boss Phil Parkinson had hoped to add the Rochdale midfielder to his ranks but, after several on-off negotiations, the plug was suddenly pulled on the deal an hour before tonight's transfer deadline at 11pm.

One player who has left the Bantams is midfielder Ritchie Jones, who has agreed to cancel his contract six months early.

A disappointing January transfer window for City! As far as promotion is concerned akin to 1988! :-(

sd to see Jones go and Kennedy not arrive. He was reported not to be happy at Rochdale and they had given permission for him to speak to us after probably agreeing a fee. Maybe he values himself too highly. I would rather have a few quid less and be happy at work but perhaps he thinks differently OR his agent was trying to screw us too hard and Lawnee was not having it

Difference being the chairmen would more than likely have backed this but wouldn't be held to ransom.

Tordoff told Dolan, "you have got us where we are with these players you don't need anyone else"

We then lost a 10?? point advantage and failed to win for over a month.

If the club had managed that promotion with that team we may well have become a mainstay in the top flight.

Shame about Ritchie Jones, but lately he's been 'out' of things and even when he played, looked short of his early combatative performances. Never was a 'scoring' midfielder but I will remember him for some of those better fit team appearances. Good luck Richie!
