'I want to make fans proud of Bradford Bulls'
I am really looking forward to the new season at the Bulls.
When I bought the club in September last year I had been overwhelmed with the support for the club within the Bradford community.
It was a club that we couldn’t just stand by and see die and we were quickly gripped by the special feel that the Bulls has.
I want the club to be the focal point, not only of the local community but also of the regeneration of Bradford.
Myself and my team quickly got to grips with making the stadium the hub of it all.
We immediately set about creating the Trevor Foster Lounge in the Coral Stand, named after the iconic Bradford legend, and opened the bar every night of the week.
We have introduced a whole host of events to the Coral Stand, including race nights, ladies’ night, New Year’s Eve party and we now have the very popular comedy nights.
Over the Christmas break we held and will continue to hold auditions for our Bull Factor.
Local bands and solo entertainers have flocked to be a part of this and they will be performing at the Provident Stadium throughout the year.
We have many more exciting events lined up, including some big concert promotions that we will be announcing shortly.
We have set up regular fans’ forums to keep the supporters abreast of our plans and they have responded to what we have done by offering their services to help the club throughout the off season and into the new campaign.
Those volunteers have helped launch several initiatives that will see the club return to its roots – the supporters – over the next few months.
I have been delighted with the support shown by local businesses and we were able to announce our record-breaking partnership with Provident Financial, which will underpin what we want to do with the club.
I have been very impressed with Francis Cummins, who has put together a very good squad, despite the time constraints placed on us all. He has quickly forged a great team spirit and work ethic within the squad and everyone is looking forward to the start of the season.
The players have shown how much they want to be at the club and their loyalty to the Bulls has never been questioned.
We aim to make the game-day experience at the Bulls second to none and return to the days of Bullmania, which saw the stadium packed on game-day.
The game-day experience is something we want all our fans to share with us and the feeling generated by the supporters will only benefit Francis’ team out on the field.
Of course, part of the game-day is the facilities we aim to provide at the Provident Stadium and we already have some big plans in place.
We will shortly see a new Bulls Megastore, with a shop front on Rooley Avenue, and we will be improving the toilets and bar areas of the ground.
We want people to come here and see just what a vibrant place the stadium will be on game day and ultimately our aim is to achieve the Bradford Sporting Village, which will benefit not only the club but the citizens of Bradford for many years to come.
Some of those plans are for the future but what I can say is we want to make everyone proud to be a Bradford Bulls supporter.
We are taking the first steps to ensure that the team we will put out each week will once again be challenging for the top honours in the game.
