Non-league clubs watching the weather
8:12pm Monday 28th January 2013 in Sport By Ian Whiting
Six of the local non-league clubs should be in action tomorrow night – weather permitting.
The freezing temperatures and heavy snow have been replaced by fierce winds and plenty of rain.
Guiseley are due to host Harrogate Railway Athletic in the semi-finals of the West Riding County Cup.
The pitch was declared fit for play today at tea-time but, with the wet weather set to continue, a contingency plan has been put in place.
If Nethermoor is waterlogged tomorrow night, the clubs and the County FA have agreed to make another attempt on Wednesday evening.
Farsley also have home advantage in a knockout competition and they expect Throstle Nest to be ready for the visit of Worksop Town for a Doodson Sports (Evo-Stik League) Cup fourth-round tie.
Neil Parsley’s Division One North outfit have already taken the scalp of Premier Division Whitby Town and are looking for a second win over a top-tier outfit.
Four of the area’s five clubs in the Baris Northern Counties East League are hoping for a return to action but Thackley’s home fixture against Hall Road Rangers is already subject to an 11.15am pitch inspection.
Premier Division rivals Liversedge should also be at home, hosting Staveley MW, while Brighouse Town must travel to Long Eaton United.
In Division One, Albion Sports are due to make the trip to Hemsworth MW.
