Bradford City match off
1:33pm Friday 18th January 2013 in Sport
By Simon Parker, Bradford City Reporter
City's game at Port Vale has fallen victim of the severe winter weather as expected.
The ground staff at Vale Park worked until midnight last night on the pitch and the League Two leaders brought in warm air blowers to try to soften the surface.
But with snow falling in the area and no suggestion that temperatures will rise above freezing in the next 24 hours, they had to call in a local referee who declared it unplayable for tomorrow.
The postponement will do City a favour, allowing them to rest up ahead of Tuesday's Capital One Cup semi-final second leg at Aston Villa.

Let's hope we can fully concentrate on it when it is re-arranged

Which will also be in serious doubt looking at sky pictures. Not the pitch but supporters safety will be the problem IMO.

Agree about hoping Dowd having a good game, Webb was outstanding at VP, definitely better than some of the L2 trash we normally end up with...

Gutted there's no game to watch out for tomorrow but couldn't have asked for preparations! Roll on Tuesday, Villa Park, can't wait!!

That despite the fact they missed 2 penalty decisions in that first leg. Luckily for us, we scored in both attacks instead. Hines' shot was definitely handled and deflected, thankfully, to Wells to slot home. But neither official looked like they would have given handball. And just before McHugh powered home, Hanson was clearly dragged to the floor. The ref had no intention of giving that spot kick either.
Yet despite this, they were still head and shoulders above the usual match officials.

The ref still bossed the game without making the whole occassion about him; which is more than you can say for the little hittlers that follow City around the country.
