Brighouse squeeze in visit to FA HQ on way to FA Vase tie
Brighouse Town are prepared for their ‘overseas’ trip on Saturday and will be setting off to the Isle of Wight to take on Newport in the fourth round of the FA Vase tomorrow.
Town are hoping for two run-outs at St George's Park over the weekend - one at the new Football Association headquarters and the one that Newport call home.
Brighouse chairman Ray McLoughlin said: “We are setting off at 8am tomorrow and we have a training session booked at Burton-on-Trent, the FA Centre, between 11am and midday.
"The players, staff and a few of our supporters who have paid to come with the team bus will be having lunch there.
“Then the journey south begins again. We have tomorrow and Saturday night booked into an hotel in Southampton that is just a five or ten-minute drive from the ferry port.
"It is going to be a special trip for the lads but we are serious about reaching the last 16 of the FA Vase, so the players are ready to give everything.”
If the distant south is any warmer than the majority of the British Isles and the tie does get the go-ahead, it will be a clash against two clubs doing well in their respective leagues.
Town are third in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division on goal difference behind second-placed Bridlington Town and still have definite title hopes.
Newport are fifth in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division, with games in hand.
Paul Quinn will also have informed his men that their hosts have lost just one league game this term and have a strong home record.
