Bradford City fears for James Meredith

City full back James Meredith is "very ill" with glandular fever City full back James Meredith is "very ill" with glandular fever

James Meredith is suffering from glandular fever, Phil Parkinson revealed this afternoon.

And the City boss fears the left back, one of the best performers of the campaign, could possibly miss the rest of the season.

Meredith spent the weekend in hospital and Parkinson admitted: "We don't know how severe a strain it is, whether he is out for the season or just a few weeks.

"We're waiting to hear from the doctor but he's been in hospital because he is very ill."

Ryan Dickson arrived last week on loan from Southampton as cover.

I was going to post something different but having read about another injury/illness i feel the need to question the medical backing at the club, maybe i am wrong but we must be the worst team in the lower leagues to not overcome any problems. Good god man(sic) players played year in year out missing a hand full of games only(check the handbooks for the 50/60/70/80's) now it is three games and a cold and your out.

A friend of mine had what Meredith is suffering from and had to take 6 months off work.So we'll be lucky to get him back this season.Fingers crossed for him!

A major blow. A very nasty illness to contract. It took my daughter two years to fully recover.

I recall Lee Sharpe suffering from it and he was never the same player again.

We've had terrible luck with illness and injuries and Meredith will be a big loss as he's been such a consistent performer. Let's hope he's got a mild strain and will be back before the season ends.

its funny that this story as come out, i got told at the villa game that meredith and parky had fallen out and he would not play for them again this season?
the same guy told me andy gray was coming back before it happened and he usually gets a lot of info early.
Mmm, strange?

Well a friend of mine who knows Meredith said everytime he sees him he is drunk!
Maybe that's why Parky has fallen out with him!
Who knows but even if it is true the guy has been my favourite player so far this season.
Maybe he needs to look after himself some more as this virus is due to being run down.
Lee Sharpe had it and he was a right party boy at united.

Wishing James a speedy recovery.

If he is out for the rest of the season, then with Oliver already ruled out for the campaign, and Davies out long term, you start to feel we are cursed.

All in the same position as well, if there are 3 better defenders in this division, then I would like to see them.

As for the JPT then I would be quite happy to go out, as the last thing we need is another 2 legged tie.

So Bradford City are claiming he has a major medical problem that can potentially keep him out the rest of the season, when it's realy a tiff between player and manager, does anyone think Bradford City would have gone to press with the above glandular fever story when it could be dealt with internally..!!

Actually; to still all rumours James has spent the past two weeks with an inability to stand, which immediately diminishes any chance of him being intoxicated. Furthermore, with high fever and strong symptoms of glandular fever he has been getting as much rest as possible, wishing for a speedy recovery. I should know- I'm the one looking after him.

What you don't see with your eyes, don't witness with your mouth.
