Skipper Shazad Iqbal leads from the front for Thornbury Celtic

Early-morning frost caused 22 fixtures to be called off involving Bradford Sunday Alliance League clubs yesterday.

One of the early casualties was the West Riding County Sunday Cup tie between White Eagles and Leeds Combination League opponents Leeds City Rovers.

Another high-profile encounter to bite the dust was the Senior League Cup tie between Bolton Woods and Premier Division leaders Buttershaw White Star.

The three Intermediate Cup ties went ahead in less than ideal conditions, however.

In a delayed third-round match, Pudsey Amateurs saw off Delius 10-1, while visitors Thornbury Celtic proved too strong in the first half at Wyke Rangers, scoring three times in a high-quality contest.

Daniel Penny scored for the hosts early in the second half to put them back into the game but a late strike by Faisal Hussain that completed his hat-trick gave Celtic a 4-1 victory, with a man-of-the- match performance from visitors' skipper Shazad Iqbal being rewarded with a first-half goal.

Hosts Red Lion proved too strong for Bradford Phoenix and booked their place in the last four with a 6-1 success.

In the league, only one Premier Division match survived, Dudley Hill Rangers going down 5-2 to  visitors Mill Lane.

In Division One, leaders Victoria Rangers shared four goals at Arkwright Street after Tyersal had gone into a two-goal lead in the first half with strikes by Shaun Jackson and Ben Kendall.

Rangers had the better of the second half, coming from behind to equalise with five minutes to go. Tyersal have taken four points off Rangers in the past fortnight but the visitors are still well positioned for top-flight football next season.

A terrific second-half defensive display by Manningham resulted in one goal being sufficient to beat an out-of-sorts Stanningley Albion.

In Division 1B, front-runners Beldon Sports won 2-1 against New Tyke Rangers, while second- placed Prospect had a 6-2 victory over Inter Mill Lane.

 Oddfellows Celtic finished their Division 2A match with nine players against visitors Heaton Kings Arms after two players were dismissed by the referee.

The first was for handball on the goal-line, resulting in a penalty kick for the visitors but they must have regretted missing it.

Jordan Sargant scored in each half for the visitors but the hosts restored parity just before the interval and their second equaliser came ten minutes from the end from a free-kick outside the area.

Division 3A leaders Cartwright Lister had a 7-2 triumph over Great Northern Reserves to remain three points clear with matches in hand.

The hosts raced into a 5-0 lead before half-time but a comeback looked possible for the second strings after a diving header from the edge of the area from Glen Pearson and a superb free-kick from Chris Corrigan.

However, two further goals on the breakaway settled the leaders' fate late in the game.

Jonny Cunningham, Sam Dixon, Kevin Newhouse and Andy Conway and an own goal were the scorers in the first-half blitz.

Dixon hit his second on 72 minutes and Conway completed his brace seven minutes later.
