West Riding County Amateur League set for rare full fixture list
7:00pm Thursday 3rd January 2013 in Sport By Philip Rhodes
Bay Athletic, who won the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup in 2011, are bidding to regain the trophy this season
Weather permitting, the West Riding County Amateur League will manage to play a full fixture list for the first time since the end of November on Saturday.
Taking top billing is the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup, with outstanding ties from round three and some scheduled round-four games.
County Amateur Premier Division sides Golcar United, at Rimington, and Marsden, at home to Pannal, who were left frustrated throughout December in their attempts to play their third-round ties, will be hoping for better luck this weekend.
In round four this weekend, Bradford-based West Yorkshire League Premier Division side Fields Sports & Social entertain County Amateur Premier side Bay Athletic at Hollingwood Lane (1pm).
Beaten only once in all competitions so far this season, Bay, who lifted the cup in 2011, are seeking a last-eight place to be played in February.
Tyersal, who are at Yorkshire Amateur League side Stanningley Old Boys in the same round, will also be seeking a quarter-final berth.
With Bay Athletic, their rivals for the Premier Division championship, involved in the County Cup, Steeton will be looking to take three points from their short trip to Salts, though the first meeting between these two sides in October ended with sides sharing ten goals.
Campion, who are third, host Ovenden West Riding, who are one point adrift but have played four games fewer.
With Division One leaders Huddersfield YMCA involved in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy, second-placed Ventus-Yeadon Celtic want to knock them off the top with a home victory over Hunsworth. while bottom-placed Wibsey entertain Halifax Irish at Westwood Park.
