Division One Peel Park provided the shock result in the Bradford & District FA Sunday Senior Cup yesterday when they beat Premier Division Wyke Wanderers at Peel Park in a third-round tie.
A brace from Matthew Hannan and strikes from his younger brother Anthony and one from goalkeeper-turned-striker Dan Garber left the visitors wondering what might have been in a scrappy affair that lacked real quality.
Peel went two up through Garber and Matt Hannan, only for Wyke to square things up right on half- time with efforts from Karl Fawcett and Glyn Hirst.
It was only a mazy run and cute finish from Tony Hannan that put the hosts in control midway through the second half, a Matty Hannan tap-in near the end finishing off the dogged visitors.
At the same stage, defending champions West Bowling eased through against Division One leaders Victoria Rangers 4-0.
However, it took Bowling an hour to break down their well-organised opponents, and then it was an own goal after a defender deflected a Paul Helliwell cross past his keeper.
The champions then hit a purple patch, bagging a further three goals in a 15-minute period with strikes from Scott Marsden, Joe Jagger and Chris Wood to finally sink the Division One front-runners.
Inter Mill Lane and Lane Ends had a five-goal thriller, with the visitors edging home with strikes from Dale Howard (2) and Danny Backhouse.
There were three delayed second-round ties, and Manningham beat New Tyke Rangers with ease, hitting 13 goals, while Thornton United warmed up for their FA Sunday Cup tie next weekend with an eight-goal thrashing of Beldon Sports, with Jamie Douglas and Chris Lever both bagging braces for the Premier outfit.
Delroy and Jerome White, Danny Walker and Dave Wilson added further goals for the visitors.
Dudley Hill Rangers also had an easy triumph, hitting 12 goals Prospect, with Wayne Roberts getting a hat-trick for the Premier Division side and Ryan Basses, Jamie Scott and Paul Licence bagging two each in a one-sided match.
Robin Hood Wyke progressed to round four of the Bradford & District FA Sunday Cup after a convincing 4-1 victory over Jubo Dhol.
Joe Cullen opened the scoring for the hosts on the half-hour but the visitors equalised from the restart to restore parity until the interval.
Robin Hood then took control, which allowed Sean Taylor to bag a brace, Nick Reynolds hitting a late fourth.
There were also some Bradford Sunday Alliance League fixtures, and Buttershaw White Star ran out easy winners to maintain their lead of the Premier Division.
A brace each from Jordon Missin and Curtis McMahon, alongside strikes from Graeme Sides, Danny Brown and John Selby for the hosts, with Robert McDonald and Tustin Arshad replying for Skip Hire.
In Division 1B, White Hart had a convincing victory over Wrose Albion, winning 10-3, with Tom Greaves hitting four on his debut and Andy Philp also getting four for the hosts.
Delius had a 4-2 victory over Salthorn in Division 2B, with Ashley Firth getting a hat-trick for the visitors, Ashley Delaney also netting.
Second West beat Grass Greener with strikes from Gary Priestley (2), Lionel Maris, Kyle Dyce and Mark Lee. Paul Tarbotton (2) and Bradley Goodaire replied for the visitors.
Swaine Green secured another big three points over rivals Buttershaw Rangers, hitting six without reply, Nathan Priestley continuing his rich vein of form by firing in a brace. The other goals in the game came from Elliott Holmes (2), man of the match Kevin Sanasy and Gary Sunderland.
Visitors Aire Athletic beat Grass Greener A 5-1 in Division 3B, but the hosts' goal was scored by Matthew Marshall - his first in Sunday football!
