Cleckheaton have finally got their man.

Former Halifax, Leigh and Batley rugby league winger Ollie Marns, who has also played union for Halifax and Hull Ionians, is on the bench for them on Saturday in SSE North One East at home to Darlington.

Cleckheaton spokesman Alan Bentley said: “Ollie used to train with us many moons ago when John Bentley was our coach. We have had to wait this season while Ollie’s league commitments finished with Siddal in the National Conference League, and he also fractured an eye socket.”

With hookers Steve Worsley and Ben Thrower unavailable against the basement club, Cleckheaton will be using Robin Bennett.

“He’s very versatile,” added Bentley. “He can also play back row or scrum half.”

Darlington have lost all ten of their league matches so far this season, while Cleckheaton have won six of their last eight in rising to sixth.

Keighley, who didn’t play last weekend, resume their battle to stay up at second-placed Beverley.

Dan Horsfall, who was accidentally driven head first into a concrete post after being tackled against Sheffield Oaks at Northfield Road on September 29, makes his return for Wibsey at Rossington Hornets in SSE Yorkshire Division Five.

“This is a massive game for us,” said Wibsey coach Dave Grayson. “Win and we go up to seventh; lose and we are in a battle for the wooden spoon.”

Bradford & Bingley, whose aim is still a place in the top four of SSE National League Three North, are unchanged at Birkenhead Park.

Bradford Salem welcome back No 8 Kris Falwasser at Ripon in SSE Yorkshire Division Two on his return from New Zealand – but he will be returning to the Land of the Long White Cloud at the end of the season, probably for good.
