Time limits for cup matches in Dales Council League

Time limits have been brought in for cup matches in the Dales Council League.

A rule change, proposed by the Dales Council Umpires’ Association and seconded by Crompark, limiting teams to 2hr 40min for a 40-overs innings was passed by 11-6 at the league’s annual meeting at Pudsey Congs.

Given a tea interval of 30 minutes, matches should therefore be finished by 7.20pm.

If they aren’t then each over or part of an over exceeding the time limit will result in five penalty runs being awarded to the batting side.

Teas will also be under more scrutiny.

If any team considers a tea to be of an inadequate standard, they should make a complaint on the day to the umpires, who will then report to the league’s management committee.

The management committee may then ask the home club to reimburse a proportion of the £20 charge to the away club.
