Girlington want players to cash in

Girlington want collections to be resumed in the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League.

They are proposing a rule change to the annual meeting which states: “A collection may be taken during a match to reward a batsman making a score of 50 or more runs in a match or a bowler performing a hat-trick or taking six or more wickets.”

While collections have never been banned in the league, they have fallen out of fashion.

David Pickles and Tony Greed want leg-side wides to be introduced, and the former also wants the tea interval to be extended by ten minutes to 30 minutes, while Girlington also want bowlers to be restricted to a maximum of 12 overs per innings.

Life vice-president Stewart Roberts feels that clubs who fail to bowl 16 overs per hour without due cause in any innings of 20 overs or more should be reported to the league.

If the umpires do not report a valid reason for the slow over rate, he proposes that a first offence will cost a one point deduction, a second offence a two-point deduction etc etc.

The league’s annual meeting will take place next Tuesday at Clayton Amateur Rugby League Club.
