Port Vale's interest in Ritchie Jones news to us, says Bradford City assistant boss Steve Parkin

Ritchie Jones Ritchie Jones

City are in the dark over rumours linking Ritchie Jones with Port Vale.

Jones hopes to return to the squad against Northampton tomorrow night after missing the Aldershot win with a sore back.

The midfielder has had a frustrating campaign so far, with injuries and illnesses restricting him to only two appearances.

But the Bantams are unaware of any reported interest from Vale boss Micky Adams.

Assistant Steve Parkin said: “We haven’t heard anything but I can understand why this story has cropped up. Ritchie is a strong athletic player who is not in the team at the moment through no fault of his own or ours.

“He’s had injuries to deal with and had a stiff back last week. The season’s not really got off and running for him.”

R Jones is our 3rd best midfielder and in front of him we have G Jones 35 and Nathan Doyle not the fittest of lads, its likely one of them two will get injured making R Jones a regular in team, it would be stupid if we let him go out on loan especially to a team who our near us in the table

JamesRobertshaw is right, we shouldn't loan our best players to Port Vale, I wouldn't loan them the steam off something that doesn't smell nice....Having said that, I don't want to see City rise any further so we can all go to Wembley.

How come Port Vale are allowed to sign anyone anyway?....I thought they were still officially in administration having already gone past at least two "deadlines" set by the football league by which they were supposed have new owners in place....They should be under an embargo and getting points docked if they don't sort out their affairs soon.

They can have him if they send Tom Pope the other way.

I don't see a problem sending RJ out on loan, as long as we put a 24 hour recall clause in there.
Someone stated above that he is 3rd choice CM at the club, I beg to differ.
If you look at the selections PP has made when Ritchie has been available, I'd say he was 5th choice behind both Ravenhill and Atkinson as well

Totally agree mate R.Jones is our 3rd best midfielder the main reason hes not had more games is injury. And the
only reason Atkinson or Ravenhill would get picked in front of him are because their both more defensive and negative R.Jones is more out of the Syers mould and for me is whats missing from our game.I would play him with G.jones and Doyle at right back.We have a drastic shortage of goals form midfield that needs addressing.
Also our squad is small enough as it is the last thing we need to do is loan or sell p[layers.

@thecitygentuk

I think that maye because Jones hasnt bee fully fit, but fit enough to get on the bench and hopefully get some game time to improve his fitess (if games were going our way)

Hope so anyhow as I think R Jones is a class player and would pick him over Ravenhill any day of the week.

Have you compared Pope's stats to Hanson's?

TP goalscoring record = 0.25 per game

JH goalscoring record = 0.28 per game

Not making any other point apart from what people know and what they think they know. I checked after your comment and was surprised to find this out, my son did say he has been cr@p more than he has been good and this season is out of the ordinary for Pope.
