Tyler Sparkes on his way to gold Tyler Sparkes on his way to gold

Quest Taekwondo – who are based in Keighley, Bingley, Baildon and Greengates – showcased their talented youngsters in the Future Champions Taekwondo sparring competition in Barnsley.

Quest came home with two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

The format of the competition meant that only under-18s were allowed to compete, and competitors were first split into male and female under-tens, under-14s and under-18s, then split by belt grade (white, yellow and green, and blue, red and black), and then again by weight group.

Greengates brothers Daniel Sparkes, ten, and Tyler Sparkes, nine, won gold after impressive technical displays. Holly Ulyott (Penistone) and Jason Mann (Greengates) won silver and Gary Watt (Greengates) and Luke Jones (Penistone) won bronze.

Also competing were Zak Spencer (Baildon), Daniel Moody (Penistone) and Ellis Kirk (Huddersfield), who lost in the quarter-finals.
