Bradford Bulls take strength from adversity
7:30am Thursday 1st November 2012 in Sport
By Ross Heppenstall, Bradford Bulls Reporter
Danny Addy says the Bulls’ financial problems during the 2012 season made the squad tighter as a group
Danny Addy has looked back on the financial crisis which rocked the Bulls last season and declared: “What does not kill you makes you stronger.”
The 21-year-old utility man put pen to paper on a new one-year deal last week and has backed Francis Cummins to preside over a bright era at Odsal.
He believes that an already tight-knit group will grow even closer in the coming weeks and months, boosting their hopes of on-field success.
“Bradford is a massive club and what we went through last year will just make us stronger,” said Addy, who is looking to secure a regular spot in the back row in 2013.
“We would have made the play-offs had we not had those six points deducted.
“You never know what might have happened had we got in the eight. I think we could have gone far because we are a very good team.
“The adversity last year just made us even tighter as a group and, with a lot of the same lads signing on for next year, I think we’ll do really well.”
Addy had attracted interest from rival Super League clubs but was delighted to commit his future to Bradford after progressing through the ranks at Odsal.
He became the latest Bulls player to sign a new contract following Chev Walker, John Bateman, Luke Gale, Manase Manuokafoa and Jarrod Sammut.
Addy is already eyeing up another new deal, saying: “With me only having a one-year contract, it gives me an extra incentive to give it my all and hopefully get another deal at the end of the year.”

Someone please remind him just how well that good team went in the last few games of the season, and how many points were conceded.
unless we can sign some front row forwards for next season, (though god knows where from, there are none about) its going to be more of the same.
but we'll all be there cheering them on as usual.
