Bradford Bulls reject Leeds Rhinos’ offer for Keith Lulia

Keith Lulia Keith Lulia

Bradford have rejected a bid from Super League rivals Leeds for three-quarter Keith Lulia.

The Rhinos are looking for a new centre for 2013 following the switch of Zak Hardaker to full-back and turned to the 25-year-old Cook Island international after failing in a bid to sign Salford’s Joel Moon.

However, the Bulls say they rejected the offer “out of hand” and insist the player is happy to stay at Odsal.

The 6ft 4in, 15st 8lb Lulia joined Bradford on a two-year deal from Newcastle Knights 12 months ago and scored 11 tries in 27 appearances this season.

The Bulls say they fielded interest in Lulia from several clubs while they were in administration earlier this year and that Leeds followed up their interest with a firm offer.

Bradford football manager Stuart Duffy said: “Leeds made an approach through the correct channels for Keith’s services but we rejected their offer out of hand.

“Keith is happy at the club and has been informed of the Rhinos’ interest.

“We have absolutely no intention whatsoever of letting our best players leave and were happy to decline the Rhinos’ offer.”

well that sounds like a statement of intent, it is also a mark of the player that the Rhino's and others are wanting to sign him, We really need to keep our best players and build around them and i am happy to see that the approach was rejected.

Best centre we have had since Hape. Great news, obviously he believes in the new regime.
To Shelfrhino who thinks this is a skint little club, looks like we aren`t that skint that you can poach our players.
Well done Keith.

If your not that skint you won't need the sky money that is being deducted.

They cant offer him any more money. They're up to their quota already. He's happy with the Bulls & we're happy with him.

Great news again. Shows we've at least got players who are good enough for the top sides to want. Can't we have an idiot filter installed on the message board?

Sorry to break the euphoria but, IMO, the way it read was that Leeds did not offer enough. We may all want to keep our best players but it all comes down to money in the end and the Bulls are not exactly overflowing with funds. If Leeds really want him, they will come in with a bid that is acceptable to OK Bulls and it will be goodbye and good luck Keith. He maybe happy at the Bulls but it didn't state he would be unhappy with a switch to our neighbours.

if we have platt and blythe as our centres, we could sell lulia and get a whole pot of money to buy a few decent prop forwards. would be sad to lose lulia but dont we need money more than 1 player?
platt and blythe are strong solid players in their own rights
