Bradford Bulls: Jarrod Sammut welcomes Francis Cummins' firm but fair management style
7:40am Wednesday 31st October 2012 in Sport
By Ross Heppenstall, Bradford Bulls Reporter
Jarrod Sammut, pictured signing his new deal, says players know exactly where they stand with straight-talking Francis Cummins
Bulls star Jarrod Sammut reckons Francis Cummins will not take any prisoners following his elevation into the Odsal hot-seat.
After two years as Mick Potter’s right-hand man, Cummins was appointed as the Australian’s successor on a three-year deal.
Universally respected throughout the game, Cummins has been backed to make a successful transition to the top job by Sammut.
The Australian stand-off is an advocate of the former Leeds winger’s firm but fair management style.
“Having worked with Franny last year, I could see how passionate he is about rugby league,” said Sammut, who recently signed a new two-year deal.
“He shared his knowledge with us as players and the one thing I’ve really enjoyed since he was appointed is his straightforwardness.
“He doesn’t sugarcoat anything and he will tell you exactly how it is. You know exactly where you stand.
“Franny has come in and said ‘there won’t be any bending of the rules and nobody will get any special privileges’.
“He has said ‘this is the way we’re going to go forward’, and I think that’s a good thing, especially for the young guys coming through.”
In a squad awash with youthful promise, with teenagers John Bateman and Adam O’Brien having been joined in the first-team squad by Oliver Roberts, Curtis Naughton and Sam Wood, Sammut is ready to take on added responsibility.
“As older guys, we can jump on board and help Franny with his plans for the club.
“It’s something I’m looking forward to doing in the next couple of seasons.”

New era of the Bulls can not wait for the new season where we will put a few wrongs right.
So many positive things are going on I know we will get knocked by certain people on here but where we are from where we were is magnificant.

Far better a bit of edge between them than the Mcnamara catastrophe years when the team was so nice and matey and soft as **** and we got bullied every week.

Beggars belief if they haven't been internally disciplined by the club for embarrassing the Bradford bulls name. Do they not realise whatever they so, wherever they go they are advertising Bradford bulls

Some information on the recruitment of some heavyweights up front is needed otherwise Mr Sammut will only earn his coach's praise by making fifty tackles per game.

I think my boss is super as well, especially after he re-contracted me! What a none story this is. Sponsorship deals are good news; new signings are good news; performances in training are good news but please. Like every other coach in sport, Mr Cummins will be judged by performances on the park. Mr Sammut salivating all over his boss should be saved for the pub.

It is a non-story and just something to write. We could do with a decent story on who is going to be the Main Sponsor and what the Shirt is actually gonna like? Who's gonna be the bookends in the frontrow in 2013? Stuff like that...
