Otley and West Park Leeds are to stage Championship matches involving Leeds Carnegie in December while work continues on the new £1million playing surface at Headingley.

The Cross Green club will host the match against Bedford Blues on Sunday, December 2 (2pm), while West Park Leeds will stage the British & Irish Cup clash with Pontypridd on Sunday, December 9 (3pm).

Leeds Carnegie commercial director Rob Oates said: “Unfortunately we have had to take the decision to switch both our games in December.

“However, following the success of our recent game at York, we are very much looking forward to both these ‘on-the-road’ fixtures.

“Cross Green has a unique place in Yorkshire rugby and it is always an enjoyable afternoon watching rugby there, while West Park Leeds is obviously a top-class facility, having hosted the England national team earlier this season.

“Our huge investment in the pitch at Headingley Carnegie is to enable to us to play all-year-round rugby at our home for many years ahead and give Leeds Carnegie the best possible playing conditions throughout the season, as well as ensuring that games go ahead during the depths of winter.

“I hope our supporters will understand the short-term pain of having two more games ‘on the road’ this season is for the long-term gain of a world-class pitch to help the team in the decades ahead.”

Entry for both games are included in the 2012-13 Leeds membership, while ticket prices for the game at Otley will be as per the other two ‘on the road’ league fixtures this season – £12 for adults and £6 for senior citizens and students if purchased in advance of match day, while under-16s are free.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 08714-231315 or online at www.leedscarnegie.com/buytickets. On match day, the prices will rise to £15 and £8.

The main stand at Otley will be exclusively reserved for gold and silver members, who can gain entry by showing their 2012-13 membership card on entry to the stand.

Entry for the British & Irish Cup game at West Park Leeds will be £10 for adults and £5 for senior citizens and students, with under-16s free.

Leeds will return to action at Headingley on Sunday, January 6 against Plymouth Albion (3pm).
