The forthcoming FA Cup first-round tie is on the backburner as the Lions look towards taking three points that could take them back to the summit of the Blue Square Bet North Division on Saturday.

Guiseley got a decent home tie in the televised draw for the FA Cup last Sunday but they showed they had lost none of their focus when they romped to a big win over a league rival in midweek to start their defence of their West Riding County Cup.

That victory, against neighbours Bradford Park Avenue, will have been a fillip for Steve Kittrick’s men going into this weekend.

The Lions are in third spot and looking for the win that could see them top of the pile by Saturday evening, while visitors Vauxhall Motors are locked in mid-table.

Guiseley are just two points behind leaders Brackley Town, who have hit a sticky patch. They dropped their first league points, suffered their first defeat of the campaign next time out and were then knocked out of the FA Cup.

If Guiseley are to reclaim the lead they held briefly in the opening weeks of the season, they will also have to hope that Chester slip up this weekend.

Chester, who are second, have a game in hand over the other two clubs vying for top spot.

Kittrick has no injuries or suspensions to concern him.

Guiseley announced a significant sponsorship deal with former Bradford City backers JCT 600 this week and are looking forward to a home tie against Blue Square Premier Division strugglers Barrow in the FA Cup a week on Saturday.
