GUISELEY'S squad strength will be tested as they bid for FA Cup glory on Saturday.

The Lions have not only been hit by injuries but also by a stomach bug as the Conference North side prepare to visit Vanarama Premier side Grimsby Town.

"We haven't a full squad to pick from at the moment," said Guiseley manager Mark Bower.

"AJ (Alex Johnson) and Danny Hall are out and Ben Parker, Danny Ellis, Adam Boyes and Ryan Toulson are all struggling with knocks, and we also have a stomach bug.

"However, we know that we have enough quality in the squad to put on a performance."

The carrot from this fourth qualifying round tie is a place in the first-round proper on Saturday, November 8, and the opportunity to face clubs such as Bradford City or Sheffield United.

Bower said: "Grimsby away is about the biggest tie that we could have as they may not be in the Football League at the moment but they have a Football League tradition.

"We haven't had the chance to watch them as they have only played one match since the draw was made, and that was at Torquay last Saturday, but we have spoken to one or two people about them and I know there will be a good atmosphere as I have played at the ground myself."

Grimsby, who are eighth in the Vanarama Premier and regularly attract home crowds of between 3,000 and 3,800, have plenty of players with Football League experience, such as former Bantams duo Ross Hannah and Scott Neilson.

However, Bower countered: "We also have plenty of players with Football League experience, so I don't think the atmosphere will be a problem."

Included in that category is Lions midfielder Danny Boshell, who played over 80 games in a three-and-a-half year spell at Blundell Park.

Guiseley are offering a cash bonus to encourage fans to make the trip to the east coast. They are providing a £5 voucher for those attending to put towards the entrance cost for a home league game, with season ticket holders able to use them to buy refreshments at Nethermoor.
