Glossop North End 1, Silsden 1

SILSDEN needed a late leveller but they came away from early North West Counties League Premier Division leaders Glossop North End with a highly creditable point.

It was the first time the Derbyshire outfit had dropped any points this term as they had won all of their opening five fixtures.

The Cobbydalers even managed it with a depleted squad as they had several regulars unavailable.

Both sides had chances in an even first half but the visitors fell behind just minutes after the break.

Silsden keeper Danny Thorpe got his hands to Kieran Lugsden's shot but could not keep it out.

The home side had a very good spell after that and came close to rattling in a few more goals.

Eddie Moran hit the bar, Glossop had a strong penalty appeal waved away and Thorpe made three top-class saves.

But the Cobbydalers hit back and Thomas Henderson scored at the second attempt following a Zack Dale free kick eight minutes from time.

Unfortunately they finished with ten men after Ben Crabtree picked up a second yellow card.
