CITY of Bradford Swimming Club newcomer Danielle Bailey, from Otley, has broken a 22-year-old British Paralympic record.
In the multi-classification event at the National Age Group and Youth Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, she took almost three seconds off the category four 50 metres freestyle, clocking 1min 02.32sec.
She also finished first in the 50m breaststroke and backstroke and 150m individual medley events, while her time of 1:24.13 in the breaststroke was another personal best.
Bailey was one of four City members to qualify for the highly-competitive meetings, with freestyle specialist Eva Chapman taking part in her third 'nationals' contesting the 400m and 800m, finishing 43rd and 22nd respectively.
Also swimming was fellow 14-year-old Myles Stirk, who notched personal bests in the 200m backstroke and individual, finishing 11th in both events. His time of 57.08 in the 100m freestyle was just shy of his PB and earned him 30th place overall.
Both Chapman and Stirk will compete in the Youth Championships next year if they are successful in qualifying.
Meanwhile, Sam Lawman competed at the Youth Championships in the 50m backstroke and clocked 28.32.
All four swimmers train on Bradford Council's Leisure Services Aquatic Competition Programme under head coach Andy Pearce and development coach Sarah Fisher.
